RUONING YIN WINS SIXTH LPGA TITLE
“I was really emotional when I was on the 18 green and just felt like all the hard work paid off”, said Ruoning Yin after returning a final round of 2-under-par 70 for a 14-under tournament winning total of 274 in the FM Championship at TPC Boston.
This win was the Chinese players sixth LPGA Tour Title and ended a two year win drought since her last title in the 2024 Maybank Classic.
After a rollercoaster first ten holes, with three birdies and three bogeys, Yin found her rhythm covering the last eight holes in 2-under-par, making birdies at the 12th and the 18th, to win by two from South Korea’s Hyo Woo Kim.
Sei Young Kim, also from South Korea, challenged Yin when she reached 14-under with a birdie on the eleventh, but then a disastrous run of double-bogey, bogey, bogey on the 12th, 13th and 14th ended her day finishing in fourth place on 10-under.
It has been a tough two years for Yin who had to deal with doubts that she would ever win again, “I think I have quite a few times that I was really close but just keep missing by one or by two. Then I always harsh on myself. I think I’m doing all the right things; why I’m not winning? Of course in this case you will doubt yourself. I doubt myself if I can win on this Tour again.”
“So just everything, pressure, expectations, just everything just comes at me. Yeah, I was not a happy person last year, but this year I think I learn a lot. Yeah, the biggest thing I learn is that life comes from you, not at you. And also good things take time and just be patient about it.”
“I think I’ve been waiting for this trophy for so long, and after my first putt on 18 green I was pretty emotional.”
“By the time I lift the trophy up I was kind of calm down a little bit, but still I’m very proud of myself, proud of my team.”
