NEVER GIVE UP!!!
“210th time lucky right!”, said England’s Eleanor Givens after she won the 2026 VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open at Golfpark Holzhäusern to record her first win on the Ladies European Tour after 210 starts over 15 seasons.
Givens fired a bogey free final round of 5-under-par 66 to post a score of 13-under-par and watched as Ireland’s Anna Foster and Australia’s Whitney Hillier, playing in the last group of the day, parred the last to join Alexandra Forsterling in second place on 12-under.
“I can’t believe it!” the 37-year-old said. “I’m so excited and really proud of myself. I’m a little bit in shock as well. I did feel pretty calm today, a lot calmer than I thought I would be. I just thought come on, let’s go for this. My weekend had a nightmare start [because my clubs arrived late] so it’s kind of fate that I managed to win this week. I took my chance.”
Givens also picked up a very nice winners cheque of €52,500, a far cry from last December when she returned to Qualifying School to secure her playing rights for 2026.
“This is life changing. I was looking last year at whether I still wanted to play or not. I decided, ‘no, come on, you’ve got this!’ You’ve got the ability to play and still compete. I’ve worked really, really hard behind the scenes. To have this trophy means so much.”
It was also a great week for Elm Park’s Anna Foster as she finished in second place to record her best ever finish in a professional golf tournament. She finished in style with birdies on sixteen and seventeen, but could only make par on the last to narrowly miss forcing a playoff with Givens.
Foster picked up a cheque of €22,750 to move up to 34th on the Order Of Merit on 514.17 points and will be looking forward to hitting the fairways of the K-Club in front of home crowds for the KPMG Women’s Irish Open in two weeks time.
